Optimization of the Frequency of Maintenance of Long-Term Storage Facilities With Taking into Account Time Reservation

The article presents the results of a theoretical study of periodic maintenance of objects that are in long-term storage and in which there is no independent indication of failures. A distinctive feature of these objects is that for them it is impossible to detect a failure at the time of its occurrence and, accordingly, it is not possible to start immediately to restore the object’s performance. The problem statement is formulated and a formalized description of the process of maintenance of objects is given, a distinctive feature of which is the use of time redundancy, which is used when performing planned restoration work.A general approach to solving the formulated problem is proposed, which is based on the use of a model of a special type of regenerative process, which allows obtaining formulas convenient for practical calculations that establish the dependence of maintenance efficiency indicators on the reliability characteristics of objects, their maintenance parameters (frequency and duration of scheduled preventive maintenance and, if necessary, current repairs) and the value of the time reserve used. A numerical example is given to illustrate the practical application of the obtained results.
