A Dual-Band Nested Ku/Ka Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna Array with High Isolation

In this paper, a Ku/Ka nested dual-band antenna array is designed. The structure of the Ku antenna is a dual-polarized magneto-electric dipole antenna. Without increasing the complexity of the Ku antenna, four Ka antennas are added to the radiating arm of the Ku antenna. Ka antenna is a patch antenna with a SIW cavity, which effectively inhibits the coupling between two frequency bands. The final results show that the working band of -10 dB impedance bandwidth of Ku antenna is from 11.4 to 14.8 GHz, and that of Ka antennas are from 28.4 to 29.8 GHz. They all have stable gain and pattern, and the dual-band isolation is better than -23 dB. The whole antenna array structure is square and symmetrical, suitable for further expansion as a phased array antenna.
