Automatic Capture Technology for Amplifier's 1dB Compression Points

The 1dB compression point is an important indicator to describe the nonlinear characteristics of active devices. When performing the gain curve test, the excitation power step is generally large, resulting in some error when manually reading the 1dB compression point. In this paper, a 1dB compression point automatic extraction technology is proposed. Firstly, polynomial fitting curve according to the relatively sparse gain measured data is created, then the 1dB compression point is captured. Using the proposed method to simulate an amplifier circuit, the error of 1dB compression point is less than 0.03 dB even when the excitation power points stepped 2 dBm. Through the method proposed in this paper, the number of power sweeping points is reduced, and the test efficiency is improved compared to manual testing.
