A Mode Stirring-Based Automatic Test System for Indoor Electromagnetic Environment Evaluation

A mode stirring-based automatic test system for indoor electromagnetic environment evaluation is presented. The test system consists of a mechanical mode stirrer, transmitting and receiving equipment, and LabVIEW-based user interface for automatic parameter setting and data acquisition. As generating a reverberant environment inside the room, the test system can continuously measure and record the transfer coefficient between transmitting and receiving antennas located within a room or in different rooms. Then the measured transfer coefficients are employed to calculate the coupling cross sections (CCSs) of the rooms, which are incorporated with the Power Balance (PWB) method to predict the mean electric field inside the building. The calculated and measured results are in good agreement.
