Research on drive mode of hybrid powertrain based on lever method

With addition of electric motor, the hybrid electric vehicle can get better fuel economy and drivability. And for HEV with planetary gear set as power split mechanism, a two driving mode powertrain is modified into a triple mode powertrain by adding two automatic clutches, which can provide three different operation modes including pure electric driving mode, power split driving mode, parallel hybrid driving mode. Although its structure and control are becoming more complicated, it can provide better fuel economy. It can be operated in proper mode according to real vehicle demand to improve energy efficiency. The detail analysis on its operation and mode change are presented for better understanding its working principle.
