Sleep Scheduling Based Protocol design for delay tolerant traffic in RF energy harvesting IoT network

The future generation Internet of Things (IoT) network will be crowded with energy-harvesting low-powered autonomous sensor devices that will gather information and send their acquired data to a gateway or fusion center. To make this network self-sustaining and fulfill its long-term operation demand a variety of energy sources can be used to power these devices, due to the ubiquity of Radio Frequency (RF) transmitters, it is assumed that future IoTs are likely to have Wireless Powered Communication Networks (WPCNs) where a hybrid access point (HAP) is responsible for charging the devices as well as collecting information. In this regard, this short-paper focuses on the challenges and existing uplink solutions for the transmission and provides relevant results.
