Robustness analysis of a satellite attitude with feedback linearization and sliding mode control

In this paper, a comparative study between different control approaches of satellite attitude is carried out. satellites are rigid bodies with highly non-linear dynamics and kinematics which are also subject to several uncertainties acting on actuators due to various disturbances and inertial uncertainties. Therefore, a robustness analysis was conducted on the following control methods, Feedback linearization with a trajectory tracking controller, sliding mode based on feedback linearization, and an algorithm with standard sliding mode along an angular velocity feedback control to stabilize the state variables, which is later replaced by super twisting sliding mode to attenuate chattering. This analysis was performed in order to determine which of the obtained results from the aforementioned controls yields the most robust system against such uncertainties.
