Analysis of microgrid with wind-turbine and batteries optimized for load shedding in Tunisia

This paper presents a study of technical-economic situation and environmental applicability of a wind-battery-grid system that is able to cover the load of a household in the case of 100 hours of load shedding spread over the whole year with a maximum duration of one hour per day, in the city of Bizerte in Tunisia as a selected case study. The system components are selected according to economic variables using HOMER software. A comparative analysis is performed for two system configurations showing the optimal system is the wind-battery-GRID system. The results of the optimal system simulation are as following:

On the other hand the use of battery-grid system only reached a NPC of 17.183MDT, a COE of 0. 253DT/KWH, and a CO
2
of 2.603 Kg/yar. This study proved that the implementation of this type of project allows for clean and economical solutions, and for the continuous production of electricity in Tunisia, even during periods of load shedding for repairs to the electrical system.
