Structural and Dielectric Properties of Sb-substituted Cd-Spinel Ferrite using Solid State Methods

In this research, nonmagnetic antimony substituted cadmium ferrites (CdSb
x
Fe
2-x
O
4
) with the concentrations (x= 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) were prepared through solid state route. The structural, resistance, capacitance and inductance related properties have been examined through X-Ray Diffractometry, Inductance, Capacitance and Resistance (LCR) measurements, correspondingly. XRD patterns confirm the spinel structure. The 3D structural view is shown by ‘diamond software’ (Diamond visual crystal structure information system). The lattice parameters tend to increase because the larger ionic radii of antimony ions (~ 0.76A°) are substituted into the smaller Fe
⁺³
(0.64A°) ions. Dielectric properties investigations showed that as the antimony content increases in cadmium ferrites, it in turn reduces the tangent loss and increases the conductivity by increasing the frequency response; this property would result in remarkable high frequency applications.
