Analysis of Cultivated Areas in Ukraine During the War

With the beginning of the war on February 24, 2022, a different life began not only for the population of Ukraine, but also for the whole world. Those issues and problems that have been fixed for years and did not require critical attention came to the fore. First of all, the issue of food security arose, since Ukraine was one of the largest suppliers of agricultural products to countries in Europe and Africa. Considering the fact that almost the entire south of the country is under occupation and in the zone of active hostilities, and only 7 southern regions of Ukraine sowed the same area with sunflowers and grain crops as the other 17 regions, we can immediately conclude that problems in the world are inevitable. In this work, a study was conducted on the comparison of cropland area on the territory of Ukraine in 2022 based on crop classification maps based on satellite data. It was determined that the total sown area in 2022 decreased by 10%, which is significant for such big country as Ukraine.
