Recognized Components and Ethical Compliance Obligations -Understanding and Fulfilling Conditions of Acceptability

Third-party safety certifications play a key role in product development and manufacturing. The use of third-party certified components and subassemblies often referred to as “Recognized Components” can greatly simplify end-product certification processes and their success. This is achieved by minimizing or eliminating duplicated end-product construction and testing efforts of its internal components and subassemblies performed as a part of the Recognized Component's certification. This paper provides an overview on the importance of ethical obligations to help ensure end-product safety and its certifications effectively address and satisfy component level application considerations. These are known as “Conditions of Acceptability” for most North American certification reports and “Application Considerations” for most European Union certification authority reports.
