Resonant Method for Measuring the Electrophysical Properties of Powder Materials in the Microwave Frequency Band, Based on the Strip-Slot Technology

The current state of the radio-electronic industry requires the use of high-quality electronic components and high-precision measuring equipment. High requirements for quality and accuracy of manufacturing are imposed on the materials used. One of the most important materials used in radio electronics are dielectrics, the main parameters of which are the relative permittivity and the value of the loss tangent of a dielectric in a wide frequency band. In this regard, accurate measurement of the electrophysical properties of radio materials is becoming increasingly important. A special urgency of the evaluation of the radio material electrophysical properties is associated with the development stage, when the test substance is often in the powder state. The solution to such a problem makes it possible to synthesize powder materials with a given value of the relative permittivity. In this paper, we present a resonant method for measuring the electrophysical properties of powder materials in the microwave band based on the strip-slot technology. A multilayer strip-slot transition is used as a basic measuring device, the parameters of which vary depending on the powder material under study. The paper presents the results of theoretical and experimental studies on the example of measuring the electrophysical properties of BaFe10Ti2O19. A comparison is made with the results obtained by coaxial-line measurements and recalculated according to the Nicolson-Ross-Weir algorithm.
