On Optimal Connection of Base Stations of Wireless Communication Network to Power Supply Centers in a Mine

The problem of the optimal connection of base stations of a wireless communication network to power supply centers in a mine is considered. As a connection we mean a set of paths along mine tunnels connecting each base station to any power supply center. It is assumed that connections are made via multi-core cables, while the connecting one base stations requires one core. The optimality criterion is the cost of laying lines for such connection. A number of algorithms for the approximate solution are proposed. The stated mathematical problem and algorithms proposed, taking into account additional restrictions, allow us to solve a number of other applied problems, for example, the problem of choice of routes for recharging sink nodes of wireless sensor network. The results of numerical experiments for various network topologies are presented. The case with an excess number of power supply centers was also tested. In general, the method of simulated annealing showed good results.
