Four-Layer Reflection-Symmetric Structure with Electromagnetic Absorber

Developers use redundancy to increase the service life of unattended or partially serviced radio electronic equipment (REE). However, ultra-wideband (UWB) interference can significantly reduce the service life of such equipment. Such UWB can penetrate any blocks of equipment and damage its sensitive components, since a significant power of interference is concentrated in the ultrahigh frequencies range. Traditional circuit solutions used to protect against this kind of interference are not always effective and can be nondurable solutions. We consider the method that increases the functional safety of REE by combining the technique for protecting the devices from conducted interference of short duration and the classical redundancy. This method is called modal reservation and is a long-term cold redundancy solution. The method involves the use of modal distortions to suppress UWB interference. Meanwhile, there are materials capable of absorbing energy in the UWB frequency ranges. Such materials have high values of dielectric and magnetic permeability, can amplify modal distortions, and, as a consequence, increase the interference REE. This work investigates the effectiveness of using electromagnetic absorber in the cross-section of the structure with modal reservation to increase the interference suppression characteristics of this structure.
