AC Voltage Regulator with an Input Power Factor Equal to One

In the Russian Federation, a gradual increase in demand for AC voltage regulators is beginning to be observed, which on one hand is explained by the low quality of mains electricity, and on the other by the constantly growing requirements of electrical equipment for the characteristics of the supply voltage. An AC voltage regulator with an input power factor equal to one obtained from the Cúk topology of a converter with a common-mode voltage with an input current close to a sinusoidal shape is analyzed. Such a regulator with a given input current has such qualities as changing the output voltage from zero to the nominal value and more, the possibility of galvanic isolation of the output. Existing analogues have a larger number of semiconductor switches, as well as reactive elements. The proposed version of the regulator can be used both with galvanic and without galvanic isolation, and consumers in private households in urban and rural areas, on which the reference point in this work is made, can be used as a load. The characteristics of the regulator were obtained from the analytical result of the simulation model in the PSIM program and the mathematical model using the algebraization of differential equations method.
