Solving the Problem of Optimizing the Magnetic System of a Low-Speed Synchronous Generator of a Modular Type

The article proposes a method for optimizing the parameters of a slow-moving synchronous generator with permanent magnets (PMSM) of a modular type. A basic design scheme of a slow-moving PMSM of a modular type is considered, the peculiarity of which is the compactness of the location of its main parts, allowing the expediency of using the working volume, reducing the size of the magnetic system and the mass of active materials used in the manufacture. The simplicity and reliability of the design of the modular low-speed PMSM allows, depending on the operating conditions, to widely vary its output parameters, using standard electrical circuits for voltage stabilization and current rectification, as well as an additional voltage regulator unit. This circumstance advantageously distinguishes the design scheme of the modular low-speed PMSM from existing analogues with a common cylindrical magnetic core. When solving the problem of optimization of the magnetic system of slow-moving PMSM of modular type, the main design equation of the electric machine is obtained and optimal ratios of the winding wire mass to the mass of permanent magnets (PM), the height of the PM to the air gap value are determined, delivering the maximum specific useful power of the synchronous generator. In analytical form, the relationship between the design parameters of the optimal design of a slow-moving modular-type PMSM with the energy parameters of its operation is established.
