Preliminary Research on Detecting Cavities in Freshly Cast Concrete using Convolutional Neural Network

Although the durability of concrete structures has been extensively studied using deep learning to detect cracks from surface images, there has been few studies on airvoid determination in freshly cast concrete. Therefore, in this study, we develop a system to detect cavities in concrete using a convolutional neural network. As a result, cavities are identified with high accuracy even when the position and size of a cavity change.
