Development of air transport in two key regions in the Slovak Republic with regard to their character

The paper deals with the topic of air transport development in two key regions in the Slovak Republic with regard to their character. The paper contains a description of the current state of air transport in the Slovak Republic and the individual attributes of the air transport market. Two catchment areas of international Slovak airports - Milan Rastislav Štefánik Airport Bratislava and Košice International Airport, individual elements of these catchment areas and competing airports are characterized. An important factor is the impact of air transport on the development of the regions in relation to industry and tourism, where it addresses the direct, indirect induced and catalytic economic effects of air transport on the region. The role of industry and tourism in the region in relation to air transport is crucial. The intention was to define specific proposals for the development of air transport in selected regions and their connection to industry and tourism. The proposals presented in the paper for the development of air transport should lead to the attractiveness of the air transport in the given regions and contribute to the increase of the number of passengers who could use air transport. Proposals for the development of air transport are processed based on the results of the questionnaire of tourism and industry.
