Detection of Lung Cancer Pulmonary Nodules Using Computer Aided Detection System

Lung cancer is one type of serious disorders of the globe. Compared to other forms of cancer in both males and females, lung cancer records the highest number of cancer-related deaths. Pulmonary nodules are blob-like shapes that are between 3 mm and 30 mm in diameter. Lung cancer can reveal itself in the form of pulmonary nodules. Number of surveys indicate that testing of lung cancer can significantly decrease the death rate. For the purpose of determining the presence of lung cancer and successive schedule of supervision, correct examination of pulmonary nodules is necessary. For the study of lung CT pictures, novice radiologists rely on professional specialists. For such a conventional learning system, the shortage of time from professional radiologists is the key bottleneck. Hence, there is a need for the design of an Automatic Computer Aided Detection system (CAD) tool to support radiologists and analysis of lung cancer.
