Smart American Sign Language Recognition For Deaf

People who are deaf or dumb can usually communicate using Sign Languages . However, this is not feasible if one of the interlocutors doesn’t know Sign Language and hence the ease of communication provided by this language vanishes. In this proposed method we have developed a system that uses flex sensors to recognize hand movements related to alphanumeric signs used in American Sign Language. As a byproduct of our research efforts, we developed a new data set made up of depth images of letters and numbers in American Sign Language, carried out an empirical evaluation. In this paper we have introduced a novel method for predictions regarding the development of a comprehensive system using Arduino UNO for sign language transcription.
