Low Complexity Acoustic Feedback Cancellation Algorithm with Frequency Shifting and Dichotomous Coordinate Descent Iterations

Numerous acoustic feedback cancellation (AFC) algorithms are used in open-fitting and in-ear hearing aid devices to avoid the possible annoying howling sounds. In this paper, a new algorithm using dichotomous coordinate descent iterations and frequency shifting is proposed. It is shown that the proposed approach has the lowest numerical complexity among the considered competing algorithms and achieves good performances in improving the quality of speech and music signals.
