Software Optimization used to Automate Decellularization

In the field of tissue engineering, obtaining biomatrices raises serious problems, both for the physician and the biomedical engineer. Until now, there is no standardized and very well optimized decellularization protocol. All applied and used protocols allow for an advanced degree of decellularization, but they also generally produce some damage, which affects the quality of the future organ to be transplanted. In this study, we present the optimization of the software application created for the automatic validation of the decellularization process for a simulated heart. Thus, the heart was simulated using a latex balloon, in which dye was inserted. It was distilled, injecting water with a controlled flow, using a syringe pump for clinical use so that the software application automatically detects, after a long time, the complete discolouration of the simulated heart and automatically stops the process. Finally, this process is equivalent to the complete decellularization of a real heart. The validation of the optimization of the software application was made using the spectrophotometric measurement of the evolution of the dye concentration used in this experimental process.
