Study on Ultrasonic Phased Array Detection of Hot Meltbutt Joint of Polyethylene Pipe

Hot-melt welding is one of the main welding methods of polyethylene pipes. Due to the problems of ultrasonic attenuation in polyethylene materials and the defect display is not intuitive, the conventional ultrasonic testing method is proposed. Joint test, by making samples of hot-melt butt joints with typical defects, carrying out ultrasonic phased array detection tests, and then using X-ray digital imaging detection methods to conduct verification tests. The test results show that the ultrasonic phased array detection technology can reliably detect typical defects in the hot-melt butt joints of polyethylene pipes, which can be used for engineering inspection.
