Minimization of Loss and Mutual Coupling Using Tiny Antenna Arrays for UWB Applications

This article proposes the design and analysis of UWB antennas based on meta-material of tiny geometries for various wireless applications and conducts a numerical investigation on the performance of UWB antennas. It supports a variety of devices operating in the same or a different frequency range. It is also feasible to divide a power with arbitrary ratios in both equal and unequal portions. The decreased mutual coupling of a redesigned UWB antenna is constructed at 7.5 GHz middle frequency in place of the UWB reference antenna array. The suggested antenna structure comprises of array monopole antenna patch that facilitate operation for wireless LAN application. At various inter-element spacings between the radiated elements, the UWB antenna array performance is examined. The suggested UWB filtering antenna array design produced a high realised gain of about 3.58 dBi and a wide fractional bandwidth of more than 109.67%. A redesigned UWB antenna array could be improved regarding some parameters like reflection coefficient, realized gain and bandwidth. Even though, all the parameters remain the same, the mutual coupling is reduced. The suggested antenna is appropriate for UWB in few applications like indoor tracking, radar systems, and positioning applications due to these benefits.
