Identification of bone fracture lesions in digital X-ray images using MSFF and MSFD method

Medical image processing techniques have become increasingly important in recent years for diagnosing clinical images. X-ray imaging is a crucial tool in the diagnosis of bone fractures. Objective: The current study's objective is to use image processing techniques to locate small bone fracture lesions in a digital X-ray image based on the Box counting methodology. Methods: The Multi Scale Fractal Dimension (MSFD) and Multi Scale Fractal Feature (MSFF) in MATLAB are used to calculate the dimensions and normality of bone lesions, from which the DMF value was derived. The DMF value was therefore between 1.000 and 2.000. The normal region's observable range was 0.800 to 0.900, whereas the abnormal region's range was 1.000 to 2.000. Conclusion: Based on the variance in MSFD and MSFF data, the area of the bone fracture lesion was located. It was observed that this feature had a stronger capacity for differentiation at distinct subregions and subareas of the X-ray image. As a result, the DMF value makes it simple to identify the lesions, enabling radiologists to quickly find small bone fracture lesions.
