Area Coverage Analysis of Low Altitude UAV Bases Station using Statistical Channel Model

The main requirement of the next generation wireless network (5G and 6G) is to provide ubiquitous connectivity to every user, especially for urban cities of India. VAV mounted base station is the one of the cost effective and prominent solutions to meet the requirements. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of area coverage of VAV mounted Base Station is required for low altitude to identify shadow regions and predict signal strength. In this paper, we estimated area coverage of three urban areas (urban, dense urban and high rise urban) using the ITU-R P-1410 model. The statistical model is modified to identify the effect of elevation angle on coverage. The simulation results show the effect of UAV altitude, elevation angle and communication range on area coverage The result analysis reveals the optimum UAV altitude and elevation to cover maximum area for given scenario. Furthermore, the site specific analysis of three areas of Pune city which maps the statistical parameters defined for urban, dense urban and high rise urban area in ITU-R model is carried out which will be useful to visualize 3D coverage map of the site, to predict signal strength and to identify shadow region.
