Research on Working Mechanism and Key Parameters of SPMA Protocol

The SPMA (Statistical Priority-based Multiple Access) protocol is a kind of link-layer multiple access protocol that can realize information priority distinction. It is the MAC protocol adopted by the US military TTNT (Tactical Targeting Network Technology), which can ensure low-latency and high-reliability transmission of high-priority information. This paper studies the working mechanism and key parameters of SPMA. Firstly, it analyzes the working principle of SPMA protocol, the pulse coding method adopted by the physical layer and the priority backoff mechanism based on channel load statistics adopted by the link layer. Then, according to the two key parameters of SPMA protocol: the channel load rate and the highest priority backoff threshold, the theoretical analysis is carried out and the corresponding theoretical scheme is given. Finally, the feasibility and accuracy of the channel load ratio and the highest priority backoff threshold scheme proposed in this paper are verified by simulation experiments.
