Optimal Allocation of Parking Lot with Intelligent Charging Scheduling of Electric Vehicles in Distribution System

Electrification of transportation in recent days causes huge load demand to the distribution system (DS). Thus, it throws challenges to the power system engineers. This paper proposes a bi-layer methodology named “Intelligent strategy for parking lot placement and charging scheduling.” In the first layer, the suitable placement of parking lots has been done by keeping active power loss as minimum as possible without violating the voltage profile constraints. In the second layer, charging scheduling of Electric Vehicles (EVs) has been performed by maintaining minimum charging costs. These operations have been executed considering Grid to Vehicle (G2V) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) modes. Soft computing technique has been clubbed to identify the optimal location of parking lots and as well as to find out the total charging cost in such a way that EV owners will be in a lucrative position.
