Comparitive Study on Robust Load Frequency Control Techniques for Islanded Microgrid

Nowadays, there is a large part of population in the world that doesn't have access to electricity, most commonly due to far away location from the main grid. Microgrid technology thus successfully incorporate advantages of distribution generator and intensify the efficiency of usage of the energy. This paper investigates various robust control techniques for load frequency control of an islanded microgrid comprising of distributed generators such as diesel engine generator (DEGS), microturbine (MTs) and fuel cell (FCs) along with energy storage systems (ESS) i.e., battery energy storage system (BES) and flywheel energy storage system (FES). The microgrid performance is examined closely under variable load perturbation and fluctuating wind power. The result obtained is compared to achieve the best controller.
