Development of a Model Device of a Control System Device for Control of the Power Source for Hybrid Laser-Arc Welding of Aluminium Alloys

It has been established in this study that modern microprocessor-controlled power sources that are designed for certain arc welding methods of aluminium alloys cannot meet the technological requirements when used in a hybrid laser-arc process and do not allow for obtaining of high-quality welded joints. When utilizing hybrid laser-arc processes, it is necessary to develop an independent control system that will allow for creation of an inverse relationship between the arc and laser components of the welding process. For this, the influence of mode parameters on the quality of welded joints was established on the basis of experiments on aluminium alloy samples. From there, the control parameters of laser and arc sources was defined. As a result of this study, a model of a control system device for control of the arc welding power source for hybrid laser-arc welding of aluminium alloys was developed and tested. Based on the database obtained with the help of the developed feedback device, as well as the parameters of the laser installation control scheme, the possibility of such compulsory control of the laser radiation frequency parameters is established, which helps us in the process of elimination of the main welds defects while achieving the required quality indicators.
