Towards a Generic Model of EVRP in the Case of Goods Delivery

For centuries, human livelihood depended on transportation to insure a sustainable stream of supplies, both between different countries, and different districts of the same city. And with the consecutive industrial revolutions, populations flourished, and trading grew bigger and much more complex. To increase the efficiency of trades, all sorts of transportation means were deployed, Cars, aircrafts, vessels, trains and more. Quickly, vehicles of all sorts became -and still are-indispensable. In this paper, we aim to validate a generic model capable of solving the electric vehicle routing problem (EVRP) in the case of goods delivery. Our model intends to minimize the overall time which, in our case, is the time needed to reach certain destinations and that of serving customers. Our model considers a fleet of vehicles that are expected to serve a fixed number of customers while taking into consideration the limited range and load capacities of the vehicles. The idea is to have a versatile model that can go from generic to specific, meaning that upon changing the fleet size from several to one vehicle, the model will be able to converge to a path optimization system.
