Labor inclusion of people with Down Syndrome through technology

In order to support the employment of people with disabilities, new models have been proposed, new ideas based on the possibilities, on the abilities of individuals and on their participation in their own social environment. This has favored people with Down syndrome working in different types of companies, proving their ability to adapt to work environments. The main objective of this work is the development of an inclusive technological platform that can be used in restaurants to support the employment of people with Down syndrome. For the development of the tool, the life cycle model called evolutionary prototype was adopted, which allows rapid design focusing on a representation of those aspects of the software that will be visible to the client or the end user. The use of mobile devices as a communication board between the waiter and the clients was considered. In order to obtain initial information about the degree of usability and fulfillment of the objectives set at the beginning of the development of the technological platform, two case studies were designed and implemented. The preliminary results obtained with the use of the technological platform are considered favorable.
