Preparing for accessibility of students with disabilities to Higher Education

In Higher Education there is a considerable number of students with disabilities, others attend previous institutions with interest in accessing a university career, which is a challenge for teachers who interact with them, both in the university context and in previous educational levels, because they have to lead a special training process that generates quality learning in students who have compromised their motor, sensory, intellectual or affective-motivational development. The result presented here is a task of the international project: “Promoting Accessibility of Students with Disability to Higher Education in Cuba, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic” (ACCESS). The objective of this work is: the elaboration of a methodology for the special psycho-pedagogical training of teachers to promote accessibility of students with disabilities to Higher Education. In the implementation of the methodology, specialists of the Center for the support of students with disabilities of the University of Las Tunas and researchers of Special Education were involved as collaborators of the professional improvement.
