A Full-Duplex Phased Array Using Reference Decoupling Channels

A new RF front-end architecture is proposed for achieving a full-duplex phased array, in which two reference channels with a decoupling network are added to the traditional receiver. The proposed architecture was verified in a one-dimensional phased array with separated Tx and Rx patch antennas. The simulation results illustrate that the isolation from Tx to Rx is improved from 17.5 dB to 47.4 dB over a 600 MHz instantaneous band centred at 10 GHz. When the beam of the transmitter scans from 0 degrees to 60 degrees, the isolation is not degraded, demonstrating how the Tx-to-Rx self-interference could be suppressed in a phased array scenario.
