A Shared Aperture Ku-/Ka-Band Feed Source for a High Gain Fixed Beam Offset Reflector Antenna

A shared aperture for two circularly polarized 2×2 arrays is designed using a Fabry-Perot cavity covered by a partially reflective surface (PRS). The shared aperture works simultaneously at Ku (bandwidth of 500 MHz) and Ka (minimum bandwidth of 1 GHz) bands, to be employed as a dual band feed of an offset reflector. The technique of sequential rotation is employed to achieve circular polarization at both Ku- and Ka-bands. A peak gain of 30 dBic is achieved at Ku-band and 33 dBic is achieved at Ka-band.
