Data analysis of the turbulent flow of nanofluids «water-Al2O3» and «water-TiO2» in the Slinky collector of the heat pump

The addition of nanoparticles to the base fluid makes it possible to increase the heat exchange efficiency of the base fluid without fundamentally restructuring the technological process. However, the presence of nanoparticles in the heat agent also increases the viscosity and therefore increases the power required to pump the fluid through the system. The ratio between the beneficial effect of increased heat transfer and energy losses due to increased pumping power indicates the efficiency of using nanofluids. The pumping power of the nanofluid was previously considered for a heat agent in straight pipes or corrugated plates. In this study, the pumping power was determined for nanofluids flowing in a horizontal Slinky collector of spiral configuration. An analysis of the turbulent flow data of two types of liquids was performed: «water - Al
2
O
3
» nanofluids containing 0.1-1.3% vol. 30 nm spherical nanoparticles, and «water - TiO
2
» nanofluid containing 0.1-1.3% vol. 25 nm of spherical shape. Studies were conducted for the range of Reynolds numbers 10000- 45000. The influence of nanofluids «water- Al
2
O
3
» and «water-TiO
2
» on the hydrodynamics and pumping power of a single-phase flow in a Slinky collector was studied.
