Simon J. Mahon (S'90–M'92–SM'00) was born in Salford, U.K., on October 6, 1963. He received the B.Sc. degree in physics and pure mathematics, the B.E. degree in electrical engineering (with first-class honors), and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia, in 1985, 1987, and 1993, respectively. His doctoral thesis investigated modeling of pHEMT devices and circuits.,From 1993 to 1999, he was with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSISO) Radiophyiscs Laboratory, Sydney, Australia, where he designed a number of amplifier, mixer, and other monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) in GaAs pHEMT, InP HEMT, and InP HBT technologies for a variety of applications...
