Biography
Tsutomu Kawabata (M’93) was born in Toyama, Japan, in 1955. He received the B.E., M.E., and D.E. degrees in mathematical engineering from The University of Tokyo, in 1978, 1980, and 1993, respectively. He joined the University of Electro-Communications in 1982, where he is currently a Professor with the Department of Communication Engineering and Informatics. He was a Visitor at Stanford University from 1987 to 1989 and from 1996 to 1997, at the Eindhoven University of Technology in 1995, and at INRIA in 1996. His research interests lie in information and communication theory and include quantizations, rate-distortions, lossless data compressions, and bio-informatics.(Based on document published on 6 April 2018).
