Tim O’Shea (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from NC State University in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree from Virginia Tech, Arlington, VA, USA, in 2017. He is the CTO with DeepSig and a Research Assistant Professor with Virginia Tech. His research has focused on next-generation communications systems, including candidate 5G and 6G technologies and specifically has focused on leveraging machine learning uniquely within the physical layer to reconsider communications and sensing tasks as efficient data-driven problems solvable using powerful and efficient deep learning approaches.
