Photovoltaic Performance Metrics of CsSnI3 Perovskite Solar Cells using SCAPS-1D

Lead-based perovskite exhibits high efficiency but due to toxicity, research is shifting towards the lead (Pb)-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and it is generating substantial research interest currently. In this paper, we have investigated the performance of inorganic CsSnI
3
perovskite as the absorber layer of PSC using SCAPS-1D software. Our purposed device structure contains planar n-i-p FTO/Ti0
2
/CsSnI
3
/PTAA/Au with intrinsic CsSnI
3
as light absorber layer, n-type TiO
2
(Titanium dioxide) and organic p-type PTAA (Poly triaryl amine) as electron transport layer (ETL) and hole transport layer (HTL) respectively. The photovoltaic performance is estimated by varying the absorber
$CsSnI_{3}$
layer parameters such as thickness, doping density, and defect density (Nt). Finally, the device displays a high-power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 22.54%, with a fill factor (FF) of 79.7%, open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.812 V, and short circuit current density (Jsc) of 34.75 mA/cm
²
. From this thorough analysis, we can say that
$CsSnI_{3}$
perovskite could be used efficiently instead of lead (Pb)-based perovskite.
