A SOA Based E-Health Services Framework

The e-health applications and use cases are characterized by a great variability and complexity as well as by a heterogeneous nature, which makes them difficult to be controlled and managed via a single ICT system. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) offers a generic framework for developing complex e-health applications, which meets the complex requirements of large scale medical institutions. Electronic health record (EHR) is an important e-health component, widely applied to increase the quality of medical care, already used by the majority of developed countries. In this paper is presented a SOA based generic e-health services framework, integrating EHR, thus enabling interoperability, to increase the efficiency of health care. The framework integrates Web services and can be useful in the healthcare industry for developing performant and cost efficient healthcare services.
