An integrated testbed IEC61850-IIoT for Gas Insulated SF6 Monitoring in SCADA systems

This paper presents a solution in the field of Smart Grid integration by defining an IEC 61850 – IIoT (Industrial Internet of things) testbed platform applied to conventional SF6 gas monitoring. The platform allows the mapping of information through IEC 61850 services with MQTT – IIoT messages. The testbed platform provides interoperability of isolated systems that are due to non-interoperable communication protocols in the substation and therefore integrates control and monitoring in the SCADA system. This platform provides interoperability between isolated non-interoperable communication systems in the substation and, in turn, integrates SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) control and monitoring. Future lines of research are also proposed to quickly adapt IoT and Web of Things standards in Smart Grid scenarios.
