Nature Inspired Node Localization Algorithm for Anisotropic WSNs

This study resolves the node localization problem in O-shaped anisotropic wireless sensor networks (AWSNs) using a nature-inspired algorithm. The localization problem is resolved by using location aware anchor or beacon node. The distance between the target and anchor node is estimated with the help of a reliable anchor pair selection approach. The target nodes' coordinates are obtained using the nature-inspired salp swarm algorithm (SSA). The proposed node localization algorithm's localization error is calculated for different node densities and anchor node numbers. Comparisons are made using a geometric method and a node localization algorithm based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The simulations are performed on MATLAB software.
