Highly Negative Dispersion Compensating Octagonal Photonic Crystal Fiber

This article proposed an ultra-large negative dispersion defected octagonal PCF (OPCF) to address the issue of dispersion in fiber communication. Using the Finite Element Method (FEM) and COMSOL Multiphysics, the effects of the air-hole diameter and layer-to-layer spacing have been determined. Simulated results indicate an ultrahigh negative dispersion of –1132 ps.nm

and high nonlinearity of 78.5 w
^-1
Km
^-1
at a 1550nm wavelength. The suggested OPCF waveguide offers effective transmission over long distances because of its promising properties. The recommended outstanding development of OPCF may be employed primarily in communication fields such as supercontinuum generation, nonlinear sensing, and biosensing.
