Analysis on the Air-Gap Magnetic Flux Density and Propulsion of the TFLSM Considering Cogging Effect

A novel transverse flux linear synchronous motor (TFLSM) is proposed, which can realize propulsion, levitation, and guidance functions in maglev train. Considering the cogging effect, a novel analytical method for calculating the air-gap magnetic flux density of the TFLSM is proposed. First, the overall configuration and operation principle of the TFLSM are discussed. Second, the model of the analytical method is proposed, and the magnetic permeability coefficients of the primary and secondary of the TFLSM are established and calculated; then, the air-gap magnetic flux density of the primary and the secondary is obtained. Besides, the propulsion force is calculated considering the cogging effect. Finally, the finite-element method (FEM) and experimental model of the motor are established, and by comparing the propulsion force of the analytical results with the FEM and measurement results, the correctness and effectiveness of the analytical calculation method are verified, which provides a basis for further establishing the real-time motion control model of TFLSM.
