A Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Optimized Current Sensor Installation Strategy of Power Converter for Doubly Salient Electro-Magnetic Motor

Power converter is the weak link in the motor system. The failure of power converter will cause the motor to work in an unbalanced state, affecting the stability of the whole system and even damaging the motor. Therefore, the implementation of fault diagnosis of the power converter is the key to improve reliability. In this paper, an open-circuit fault diagnosis method based on the optimized current sensor installation position is proposed for the power converter in the drive system of doubly salient electro-magnetic motor. The method requires only two current sensors and enables opencircuit fault diagnosis of power transistors for power converters while ensuring that the motor can still complete the current closed-loop control normally after changing the installation positions of current sensors. Finally, the experimental results verify that the proposed method can quickly achieve opencircuit fault diagnosis of power converters and reduce the cost of fault diagnosis.
