Privacy‐preserving Authentication Scheme for On‐road On‐demand Refilling of Pseudonym in VANET

This chapter introduces a privacy‐preserving on‐road on‐demand pseudonym refilling method. Wang et al. and Yue et al. proposed an anonymous authentication scheme in VANET. Wang et al. used aliases instead of the real vehicle identity, and instead of saving a copy of these aliases at the Certifying Authority, they are encrypted and saved in the subliminal channel of certificate signature. The chapter describes the network model, and its functionalities, components and purpose. It explains the proposed anonymous authentication scheme. The chapter also examines the solution in terms of its satisfaction to the security properties and its resiliency to famous attacks. Moreover, its logical correctness is checked using the Burrows, Abadi and Needham logic and its automated verification is done using Security Protocol ANimator and Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications tools.
