Antenna Beamforming Selection With Low Complexity and High Exploitation of White Space in Frequency Spectrum Sharing

The development of wireless communication technology has led to the depletion of frequency resources and the need for frequency sharing. Therefore, we focus on beamforming, a technique that provides strong transmission gain in a specific direction, and consider sharing in space-time by managing directivity through scheduling. However, the number of combinations of beams that can be irradiated in a given time is enormous, and effective beams must be selected while minimizing the amount of calculation. In this study, we established a simple beam selection algorithm based on radio propagation data from ray tracing simulations and terminal location data from base stations. In this paper, we characterize this algorithm and show that it is a highly efficient selection method compared to other methods.
