Application of Antenna - Lens System for Measurement of Bistatic Parameters of Materials

A modification of the bistatic measurement facility of the centimeter wavelength range using the antenna - lens system was investigated in this work. This modification makes it possible to create a field distribution with acceptable characteristics in the area where the object under test is located in a wide frequency band. When measuring the specular reflection coefficient of a material in free space, diffraction effects have a great influence on the measurement results. This influence can be reduced by forming an optimal field in the area of the object. Numerical simulations of the measurement the specular reflection coefficient using the method of moments on the upgraded bistatic facility with lens were performed. The calculation results have shown that the use of the lens improves the accuracy of specular reflection coefficient measurements in a wide frequency and angular range.
