Smart Helmet - Early Calamity Prediction and Warning System for Coal Miners

Coal mining has lately become a hazardous activity for mine employees owing to the presence of hazardous gases during operation. When gases such as sulphur and methane are discharged into the atmosphere, they may cause suffocation and gas explosions. The proposed study depends on the real-time usage of smart helmets and RF communication to boost safety by monitoring many variables such as temperature, humidity, and helmet use. Arduino is used to analyse the data, and sensors such as the MQ-4, DHT11, and IR sensor are utilised to get the readings. The suggested system would increase worker productivity and safety in the mining operation while also notifying the base station, increasing survival rates in the case of an accident. When an accident happens or poisonous substances are identified, warning signals are sent to mine employees and the base station through RF transmission to reduce communication time and adhere to any mandatory safety regulations.
